This happened about 2 weeks ago after my grandchildren visited. About 12 months ago I could no longer get online through the SBC Yahoo browser icon and after spending MANY hours online with the tech was told he could not help me - I needed to talk to a tech 2. I started going online by using internet explorer instead of wasting more time online - this has worked fine until this month. The tech told me at the time I might have a corrupted browser.

Before I"d go so far as to attempt to correct a browser issue, I'd consider the following:

Update your Windows, and if you have not already , update your Internet Explorer to the latest version. Also check to be sure your Java is up to date.

Next, I'd consider that the grand kids like to surf and you got a bunch of spyware. Virus programs are great, but they do'nt catch the spyware.

Get the following, install them ALL, update them All weekly and run scans weekly.

Adaware SE Personal
Spybot Search and Destroy
Microsoft Defender.

They work great as a team to getting rid of spyare and malware.

You don't tell us which operating system you are running.
It sounds like you have been infested with spy ware and/or viruses.
Firstly run a decent anti-spyware programme like Xoftspy
Try defragging the hard drive.
Do you have enough free space on your hard drive. If the kids have been adding files or downloading music this will kill a system.
Do you have programmes running in the back ground?
CD in a drive as you boot up?
I bet you have never run a Windows tune up utility either.
If running XP run Tuneup Utilities you can get a 30 day trial from here http://www.tune-up.com
I'll make a bet with you if you have never "cleaned Windows XP there will be 200, 400 maybe more errors in Windows if there isn't I'll eat a liver sandwich.
