if your baby eats all of his/her stage one then he/she is ready for stage 2. You don't need teeth for stage 2 but you do for stage 3 unless they mash with there gums. It is safe to use stage 2 at 6 months or 5 months. If you don't think that he/she is ready then wait. I always got yelled at by my friends for not giving my daughter stage 2 or stage 3. She still doesn't eat a lot but she is growing. I did put her on stage 2 at 6 months but stage 3 I waited until she was like 9 months. You are the mommy do what you feel is best for your child.

There's not an appropriate age because it depends on your baby. My son started when he was 6 months, but it was because i saw that the number 1 food were too little for him, he always wanted more. So i finally decided to give him the #2 when he was getting full with the #1. Hey and my son is not overweight if that's what you're thinking, he is 19 months now with a weight of 26lbs. So go by what your baby is asking... good luck.

Use your judgement. If he is eating all of the stage 1 and still seems to be hungry then it might be time to start him on stage 2. But I would reccomend starting the stage 2 with the stuff he is already eating. Like go from stage 1 bananas to stage 2. Introduce heavier or textured food in smaller portions.

When you have given all the fruits and veggtables and you know your baby is not allergic to non of those foods and your baby is an expert on those foods then you can change him usually its around 8 month 2nd foods the jars are bigger or they have mixed fruit but thats why you have to make sure the baby is not allergic to these foods

DONT there digestive track isnt ready to alow the nutrients in there body so its really pasing right thrue there little tumies (my doctor told me that aswell as my public health nurse) if you start feeding them befor 6 months there more likely to get diabeties and be at a higher risk to be over weight

My 7 month old hasn't reached that stage yet, but every baby is different. You can judge when you think the baby is ready or check with the doctor.
