You are absolutely correct in that Palestinian government was democratically elected.
You are also correct that the Palestinian government does not "need a country on the other side of the world dictating to them".
You fail to realize, however, that the Palestinians apparently need our foreign aid.
You also don't seem to realize that, since it is our money, we can decide whether or not to give to the Palestinians.
Since the government that they have voted into power is recognized as a terrorist organization, and our policy is to not aid terrorists, obviously we have decided not to give them any money. If you consider it "dictating to them" that we will give them the (our) money if they change the government... so be it.
The apparent solution you have in your statement, however, is completely unworkable. You have stated correctly that "The key to the middle east is peace between Israel and Palestine". Unfortunately you are grossly incorrect in your statement of "this will not happen until Bush accepts their elected government". Hamas is sworn to the destruction of Israel and, unless your definition of "peace between Israel and Palestine" is having the Israelis driven into the sea, there won't be peace as long as Hamas is in control of the Palestinian government.
You complain about Israel killing civilians, what about the Israeli civilians being killed? How about if Israel was to send a bunch of suicide bombers out into the Palestinian markets targeting civilians? Oh, that's right, it's only OK if Israel's enemies do that to the Israeli civilians! The killing of Israeli civilians evidently does not bother you, only the killing of Palestinian civilians.

You know very little of the history of the area if you actually believe that Bush's backing of Israel over Lebanon's new regime is causing this chaos. This war has been fought since the crusades and before without ceasing. No one questions that the elected government was democratically chosen, but they still must be held accountable for their actions like every other government. Establishing themselves as a legitamate government is not a free pass to continue the criminal behaviors they engaged in before. It is in fact, easier to declare war on a country than it is on a terrorist cell. If Lebanon would patrol it's Israeli border and prevent terrorist attacks from spreading over, Israel would have had no complaint. Many civilians from both sides have died, and unfortunately many more will until the Muslim countries can accept Israel as a state and stop pledging to wipe them off the face of the earth. Israel has a right to live too, and has the support of the United States whether Allah approves or not. The sooner everybody gets used to the idea, the sooner things settle down.

The conflict started long before the crusades with the intrusion of arabian armies and its muslum religion into europe. The crusades where the response to being taken over by muslum religion and armies. Proud muslums will point this out, rather than pretending the crusades where a senseless assault on the middle east. There is no simple answer. The questions are more like:
How can Israel defend itself from terrorist attacks, when foreign police don't seem to do anything them?
How can poor contries afford to defend Israel from terrorist attacks from people on their soil?
How can countries arrest terrorists that strike at Israel when these terrorists have strong support in their contry without causing a revolt?
These are not easy questions.

Well is seems as though you believe the lies that the media puts out.
Hezbollah has been attacking the Jewish people almost every day from inside Lebanon and killing civilians all the time! Where is your call for them to stop?
Israel is bombing certian targets and has befor they bomb them dropping leaf lets to tell all civilians to leave the area.
The Palastine do NOT want peace short of killing every Jewish person!
And just to get you to think for a change when was there ever a country called Palistine in the history of the world?

They attack and kill civilians because that's where the cowardly terrorists (Hezballah) operate. What kind of a soldier fights among women and children?
Bush had nothing whatsoever to do with kidnapping Israeli soldiers or firing rockets into Israel. Bush's responsibility lies in forming a coalition of governments to provide a peacekeeping force after hostilities cease.

There has been problems in the middle east for centuries and the only way it is going to stop is when one side is dead with no one left to fight back. It wouldn't matter one bit if the US was in it or not. The people over there just hate each other and that is just the plain and sad truth of it.

I agree with the asker' s details on his question . If Bush stop interferring and dictating on the weak party ..i.e . the freedom fighters of palestine and lebanon ...
Democracy is democracy !!
Why didn't USA facilitate realease of innocent Palestinians and Lebanese from the prisons of "Israel" , before this crisis in Gaza and Lebanon? They are thousands !! Were they all criminals ?!
May be they are criminals of freedom!!
FRUSTRATION brings violence and terror . .
May be no one heard about them , but they easily hears about the three "Israeli" soldiers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DOUBLE STANDARDS OF USA WOULD NOT MAKE PEACE !!!
