the two most important things about bowling are the ball you are using and your approach. first the ball: take a ball and put it in your hand palm up. do not put your fingers in the ball. make a 90 degree bend with your arm and tuck your elbow along your side. basically just holding the ball in place. if you can hold it for 10 seconds with out it falling all over the place that is a good weight for you. second is your approach. if you throw a straight ball find an arrow on the lane. that is your mark. from now on you throw at that mark. your push off from your stance should go right at your mark. the back swing is like a pendolum, let the weight do the work. follow through all the way up to your nose. don't stop early. if you have too, thing of when your husband makes a smart *** comment and you throw something at him. the same is with the ball. if your hand goes right to your mark, it will hit it. now, once you have that down (meaning practice). you have to learn to adjust for your mark. if you did everything right, and you missed the pocket on the right side. move your feet right from where you were the first time. if you missed left, then move left. once you get the strike or pocket, remember where you started and remember your mark. for spares, throw right at them. if you use a hook then that is different. hope this helps. i have 2 300 games, and i coach HS bowling. if it doesn't help, sorry.

It doesn't matter whether you play good bowling or not especially that you are not particularly a fan of it. You played socially and the result was not in your favour. The most important thing is you had fun. I am not partronising you but just trying to make you feel better about not scoring in your first game. I suppose you will improve by playing and practising regularly if you really like this sport.

Great reply from you to the woman whose husband makes fun oh fer gay father in front of everyone!! I think you are a remarkable woman. Your gay brother is so lucky to have a sister like you.

Practice, get lessons, watch televised bowling and don't be afraid to experiment. Practice is key because you can build a rhythm and muscle memory, lessons are valuable because you can have someone spot your mistakes and help correct them, watching the pros on TV can give you ideas on how they relax and bowl without much effort and experimentation with different styles and releases/equipment will be beneficial.

When taking lessons, make sure there is a video camera available because it is probably the best way to review your mistakes and delivery and can assist in eliminating errors/bad habits.

Practice. Practice practice practice! It's the best way to improve your game. If you're very interested in getting better, ask your husband for some pointers on technique, and consider taking some lessons from a pro (most bowling alleys have local pros who offer instructional lessons).

Yeah, ... find a good female bowler and ask her for advice. Ignore anything you are told by a man. Your center of balance is completely different from a man's and it is an exceptional man who can teach across gender lines. What works for men will put your ball in the gutter.

Wear a sports bra. You don't want your boobs flapping around and getting in the way.

Seriously, just practice.

use a lighter pound ball, make sure that your finger grips are comfortable, and practice makes perfect.
