You know...your question makes it sound like it's as simple as deciding whether to have pasta or potatoes for dinner...
Not being breastfed kills about 8000 babies a year in the US (and one and a half million worldwide). Some of them die of SIDS; a bottle fed baby is much more likely to die of SIDS than a breastfed baby. Bottle fed babies are more likely to get all kinds of infections--ear, stomach, respiratory. They are more likely to get cancer at *any* time in their lives. Bottle feeding steals IQ points from your baby. A bottle fed baby is more likely to have allergies or asthma (both potentially life-threatening). They don't bond as well with their parents and are more likely to be abused. They are more likely to be hospitalized. They suffer from more Crohn's Disease and diabetes.
Does that help you decide?

Breastfeeding for 6 months. Breastfeeding mom of 3 and 1 on the way. Breastfeeding is not for everyone and I respect that. But there are so many advantages. The quality time with the baby. My babies would hold on to back fat betty during feedings. I don't have to get up at night to fix a bottle. It's so much cheaper than formula. Last but not least It was a huge jump start in my weight loss process. #1 thing to remember keep yourself hydrated. I feed my babies formula for an additional 6 months before I introduced cows milk. Breast milk is lactose free 2 of mine we fine with lactose formula and my last child needed soy. He got tummy aches. But all 3 were fine when I introduced cows milk even the last.

I breastfed my son for the first month. I had to stop b/c I got really sick and couldn't take anything to make me better while breastfeeding. If you're thinking about breastfeeding, here's an old-wives-tale: drink a cup of coffee a day during your pregnancy. My grandmother told me this, and I NEVER had a problem producing milk. I had so much that I could have fed triplets! No joke.

Breastfeeding. If you are considering it...its definitely worth it. There isnt much pain AS LONG AS BABY IS LATCHING ON CORRECTLY! Talk to a lactation specialist...there should be one on the birthing floor to give pointers and even assist you with proper latch on once baby is born.
I was totally determined to nurse my son because breastmilk is best when one can do it. But be prepare, some babies take time to latch on and some even refuse the breast but if your baby is willing...go for it and if baby isnt, dont give up. My son refused the right breast and would only take the left one for the first 6 wks,so i had to pump the right breast and feed milk through a bottle but it was and still is so worth it.

I am strictly breastfeeding. There really wasn't any pain for me. If you have sore nipples while breastfeeding, it's just because the baby isn't latching on properly.
A lactation consultant visited with me and my baby after I had him, and we got him to latch on correctly, and I've never had a problem with the pain.
I won't lie, it is hard for the first week or so, because it takes practice and patience from both mother and baby. But it's JUST a week, nothing compared to how long you waited for your baby! And it's so worth it. I love breastfeeding my baby.

I breastfed my daughter and I am pregnant with my second who will also be breastfed. I believe it is a woman's choice to do whatever works for her. I don't believe that women who breastfeed have a right to put down women who don't and I don't believe that women who bottle feed have the right to tell women who breastfeed that they are "disgusting" and other mean things. They are both valid ways to feed your child and women (especially mothers) need to start supporting each other. Sorry if that was more than you are asking for, I'm just so sick of women putting each other down for how they feed their children.
