You may need an antibiotic to clear it up. My son used 2 perscriptons of cream and two of an oral antibiotic( 1 cream and 1 oral and then refills) and he was cleared up. You can probably use the Proactive also and get it healed faster while the meds are starting to take effect. Our reg family dr. gave him the prescriptions. Sorry I don't remember which ones they are, but they worked well. After 2 mo he didn't have it anymore and didn't have to use any creams or anything.

I washed with a bar of soap and warm water. The warm water opens pores and the bar of soap is good to keep pores closed after clean them. stay away from food that will make you break out. Also stay away from the over the counter treatments b/c some are just out to sale and may even hurt your skin or cause breakouts. In short I know from it happening to me.
first run warm water and rinse skin, then rub soap on skin and rinse again. now your done if you want splash some cool water to really close those pores and dry up. Take care.

Consider using Queen Helene's Mint Julep Mask
http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=79218&catid=9386&brand=12499&trx=PLST-0-BRAND&trxp1=9386&trxp2=79218&trxp3=1&trxp4=0&btrx=BUY-PLST-0-BRAND&cmbProdBrandFilter=12499
This site has quite a few reviews on the product, and most are glowing.
My face tends to break out due to stress and contact skin allergies, so when it is bad in addition to using the mask I'll put some of the product on problem spots overnight. In the morning the blemish is usually much smaller and on the road to going away.

Go to Wal Mart and get this stuff called "Acne Free". It is the generic version of Proactive, but I think it works BETTER! And it's waaaay less expensive. Good Luck.

I know it sounds crazy, but if you take the first morning pee, and wipe your face with it, you're skin will be clear faster than with any thing else. Pee is 93% steril and will soak right into your skin killing all those zits. Don't freak out!!! Look at what the Budists do with it.
