Yes it is. You should go and get a yearly checkup and talk to your doctor about the different methods of birth control. I'm not sure how old you are but if you are younger and don't want your parents to find out you can go to your county health department and get a free exam and free birth control.

It is necessary to go to the gynecologist to get BIRTH CONTROL PILLS WHICH YOU SHOULD BE ON IF YOU ARE SEXUALLY ACTIVE AND DON'T WANT TO HAVE A CHILD.
It is important for women to have at least a yearly check up just to keep in good health. Your gynecologist can also check for STDs.
Get a "well woman exam", STD test, and some info on SAFE SEX.

Yes, it is necessary. Most of the time they will ask you which tests you would like them to perform. I would have all of them done (the pap, and STD test, breast exam) They are quick and take no longer to do than just getting the pap.
