Usually basic phones do not have the feature to read a text file uploaded from a computer. However, some latest phones are equiped with document readers to open word files on mobile. If you are not able to read a text file, may be your mobile doesn't support that feature or may be it doesn't has the required document reader application by defalt. In that case, you need to download the application from any website like www.getjar.com etc. Upload the application and you can open your text file through that, if your phone supports running of uploaded applications. Good luck.

Assuming you have already read the manual and tried all possible combinations to do this. I would say call Nokia to find how to do this.

Alternatively, you can scan the page or take a digital picture of the page and send the image to your phone. I have done this several time.

The phone is set up to handle and open pictures which is why you can transfer and view them. I doubt the phone is set up (have the right software installed) to handle text files and open them.
