I have no idea, I wonder that too. If you don't think you understand the question, read it again! Is it that hard?? Apparently it is for some people... Although sometimes the blame needs to be laid on the Asker because they should have re-read their own question as well. People make such silly little mistakes sometimes that can really make a question hard to understand... But anyway, no, they shouldn't just start going off on somebody because of their question. If they think it's dumb or unable to be understood, they should just move on to the next question. Why waste your answer limit on "Why are you so stupid" answers??

If this has happened to you, I apologize on their behalf. Some of us aren't quite as intelligent as the others.

There are four major reasons why people misconstrue a questions. First, they don't really know the answer, so they get around the question by distorting it.
Second, they may not understand what you have asked, so they try to make up an answer they think will satisfy you.
Third, very often people don't listen carefully to what others are saying.
Fourth, there are others who have reading disabilities, such as dyslexia.

Because some people have an agenda to say something in particular, and will twist any question so that they get to say it.

Or possibly because the questions are badly phrased, or some word or phrase has a different meaning depending on where you live. Also, saying something might be perfectly acceptable to one person and not to another - for example, some lesbians don't mind the term 'dyke' and others hate it.
