It is an extension of an agricultural collage. I worked for the Texas Agriculture Extension Service, an extension of Texas A&M University.

Agriculture extension is educational partnership helping people put research-based knowledge to work for economic prosperity, environmental stewardship and an improved quality of life.
Basically it is taking the research and knowledge of a states land grant university and sharing it with the people, mainly agriculturalists of the state.
