Could be the appendix (as said before), could be an abdominal hernia, could be many things. He has to have a doctor check it out.

I am no doctor, but several things come to mind as possibiliites:
Appendicitis--Though most people experience the pain lower down and to one side, it is not so very unusual for the pain from an appendicitis attack to show up below the navel.
Kidney Stones or Gall Stones
Obscructed bowel or perforated bowel--though in severe cases that usually is accompanied with vomiting or blood in the stool in the latter case.
In any event, I think it may be wise to go see a doctor.

if it's bellow the belly button it's most likely a hernia. Definitely take him to the doctor, hernias are relieved by surgical procedures, so that would be the only way to relieve him.

Get him medical help! My father had that pain a couple weeks ago and waited a couple days to go to the doctor. They immedietaly admitted him to the hospital. He was diagnosed with diverticulites.

Go to a doctor!!! It could be appendicitis which is SERIOUS. It could be something relatively minor, but you (and we) don't know!! A doctor will!!!
