Yes the 1st anniversary is paper. A great gift would be tickets of some sort. (made out of paper/cardboard) Concert tickets, movie tickets, plane tickets...and Congrats on your 1st year.

You can make huge points by taking the time to go out and pick up something that she would have picked out for herself. I like birdhouses, clocks, mirrors, etc. Just look around the house and pay attention to the type of thing that she would splurge on. It's more the thought than the amount of money that you spend. She'd love knowing that you pay attention to the things that she cares about. I've been married 18 years and my husband never gets me anything. Oh well. Happy Anniversary!!!

Oh how sweet! Besides the flowers and romance…how about enlarging a favorite photo of the two of you to a museum size and have it mounted and framed and hang it in a really neat place!
Happy Anniversary!

Paper is the traditional gift. My husband gave me a 2 year subscription to my favorite magazine and although it wasn't very romantic, it was a gift I would not have given myself and I love it! Good Luck and Congratulations!!
