Is acting important in conveying certain looks to the reader / audience? Or is it all attitude (personality)?

It's all about your attitude. confidence in the way you carry yourself. It does have a lot to do with acting. Becaues you are putting yourself in a possition to make BELIEVE to that person who is looking at you that you are what you wear...
you want the reader/audience to feel you!!!

Yes because acting is being able to convey something without speaking. In fact models have to be better at it since they are portreying something only by expression. Anyone who has ever watched America's Next Top Model or the Tyra Show should know that. If your thinking about being a model those would be a good show to watch.

I don't think acting is important! I agree with you about the personality aspect, its not acting its still you, looking seductive, or happy. Its something unique about your expression a camera catches I don't think you need to know how to acvt. I remember taking some pictures (long time ago) & I kept on trying to bend or hold my body a certain way ( acting or trying to make it look the way I thought it should) & the girl that took the pictures was like you are trying too hard! I guess you can watch some episodes of american next top model! Good Luck I wish you all the best!

no not acting you dont even speak, you can convey alot to an audience without having any acting skills
America's Next Top Model is a bad example of how to break into the modeling world... it just makes good TV

Yes because actresses know how to change their facial expressions and be aware of it. This helps in photos. Models are someone diferent when they are in front of a camera or on a walk way.
So it is like an act.
The attitude and all that.

Not needed at all. It can't hurt, but it is not needed. It is a good path towards acting however. Modelling has given us some of the worst and best actresses.

I think a model needs to know how to portray a certain character when modeling. Having some sort of acting talent would be a benefit.

Sure. I don't really know. I think Jennifer Garner is the most beautiful and talented actress in Hollywood. She does modeling for magazines and she can act.

yes i believe that it is important to be a good actress when you are a model because in photoshoots they have to feel the emotion that the picture is topiced on or the person looking at the picture will not be interested in it.............so basically yeah
