This is a recurring nightmare I have had for many years and it's getting worse. The anxiety in the dream is the part about what to say to the office manager or supervisor. If you're not coming in, or you're going to be late, you have to call in before 9. In my dream it's now 11 or 4 or whatever and I cannot think of what to say for why I forgot to come in to the office. If I have a very reasonable and plausible explanation, in the dream I can call up and say it and the nightmare is over.

I think the reason I'm having the dream in the first place is because in the morning when I'm getting ready for work I sometimes start doing things around the house and become so preoccupied that I lose track of time, but not to the extreme of my dream! Not yet anyway. :-)

Explain that you were on the same set of drugs Patrick Kennedy was on when he was "on his way to a Congressional vote" and crashed into a barricade at 2:45am. Therefore, even though it is 4:00pm, until a few minutes earlier, you were under the (drug-induced) mistaken idea that it was only 8:00am.

If you are losing track of time, you might be really stressed out and you may want to talk to someone about that or get more sleep.

But let's face it, once you're up and about, the only way you are going to forget to go to work for THAT many hours is if you are unconscious. If that happens, you apparently are not well, so just let them know the truth about what happened (you were not feeling well--no need to go into details, whether mental, physical, etc) and were unable to get to the phone. Say you are going to see a doctor. Then do it and come back with a note that you went.

But I think your fears are unfounded. You can't lose track of THAT much time, and that's why you haven't done it yet. If you're afraid you won't wake up on time, set 3-4 alarm clocks, 1-2 of them being across the room. You can even have a friend or relative call you in the morning. Or hire a wake-up service.

So now you have a plan. And regarding the dreams, I once read a book that stated that the way to end such dreams is to imagine a peaceful, happy resolution before going to sleep. Keep doing that over and over and you will most likely stop having the dream (like it happens that you oversleep and you call your boss and have a good laugh over it).

I have had this nightmare about work also. Not all the time, but have had it a few times. The funny thing is I have never overslept or missed my alarm clock or ever been late for work. I think we are probably just worry warts when it comes to work.

I have also had this dream with regard to high school (mind you I am 41 now). In my dream I am back at my very same high school and overslept and I am running through the halls trying to find my locker and I don't know where my classes are. Then, I wake up and think "phew" I am not in school anymore! Thank goodness!

If you ask any psychiatrist they will tell you this is a anxiety dream and has absolutely nothing to do with your job. However, the doing something else rather then getting ready for work is a bad habit and one you also probably do when you are supposed to be getting ready to go to the movies with your friend. Get focused and get going!

say u were so sick, that u couldn't open ur eyes, and by the time u could, it was 3. well, u still couldn't get up, so it took longer 2 call.

try to set ur alarm REALLY loud, or get more than one, in case the other doesn't work. i get dreams all the time were all the clocks in the house say a different time, and i don't no if i'm late or wat. or, if my ride left, or getting up too late and i'm trying to get ready, but it's taking sooooo long. don't worry, ur not alone.

get a new job, if ur that scared that ur boss will be so mean.

1.-be honest and ask if you could please reschedule start date for next day-best policy..try to speak or better yet, go to work and ask to talk directly to the person you interviewed with or the one that hired you-remember-they like you enough to hire you-just let them know that with excitement of starting new job and planning new routine/schedule totally forgot actual date until it was too late..

2. go to work the next day and ask to speak the person who hired you and explain why you were not there for the previous day-and since you are now then and prepared to go to work, they might just put you to work. or the last resort,

3.-just show up the following day and pretend you had the "right" day as that was the day you wrote in your calendar--but be prepared to lie and "expound" on explanation-might get you in trouble later.... good luck

Just say your grandma died and you forgot to call in due to grief. Use your fear to pour on some tears if possible.

I've done this successfully about 6 times. It helps if you are a guy because guys typically don't cry that much.

Not to sound harsh or anything BUT how do you forget to report to your job. If you applied for a job and got hired on that job, you committed yourself to that job whether you like the job or not. If you are forgetting that you are scheduled to work, then I think you should quit that job and let someone that's in need of a job and more than likely remember that they have one to report to, would gladly do so. I think you need to resign from the job.

Say you were sick and you took some medicine that had you knocked out (i.e. vicodine or tylenol w/ codeine)
