You have asked a good question because my gamecube has done about 5 times so this is what you do use cutips and clean the fan off if it still doesn't work rinse the game off with water using a sponge or cloth dry it gently and if it still doesn't work someone ripped you off

I used to own a Gamecube, and I had this exact same problem.
If this error only occurs when attempting to load the Starfox game, then it's probably just a damaged disk. Check the disk for scratches , marks, and dirt. Try wiping the disk with a moist cotton towel. If that doesn't work, then you have a few options. If the game is new, you MIGHT be able to go to the store that you bought it from and return it for a new copy. If they deny you that option, then you may wish to repair the medium. You can buy a Gamecube disk repair kit for about $60. If you don't have that kind of money, I think your local EB Games offers disk repair options for cheaper.
If the cost of repairs amounts to more than the game cost in the first place, buy a new copy.
If this happens for many games, call Nintendo Customer Support (1-800-255-3700), and get a support person to talk to you about the problem and how to fix it. If you can't fix it, then get him to tell you about how much the system repairs will cost. Nintendo has a repair center in Richmond, B.C.. They fixed my DS.
Good Luck;)

My daughter's Gamecube does this to about 3 different disks now. I'm not sure if it is the Gamecube itself, or the disks! I hope someone knows!!!
It can get very frustrating!

If you bought the game off of ebay it could be a counterfit. If u bought it off of ebay......
1. buy the same game at a store
2. look for differences (a real gamecube game always has the ''nintendo'' mark on it in small print).

If you remember where you got it from, go there and show your gamecube to them.
