The turn signal on our 2000 GMC Jimmy will not stop ticking. We've replaced a box located in the glove compartment, but it did not resolve the problem. All fuses have been checked and are okay. What is the problem?

The turn signal itself works just fine - it blinks when you turn it on and stops after you make a turn. It's the ticking NOISE that doesn't stop after the turn signal turns off (stops blinking). We replaced the relay switch located behind the glove box and it still makes the noise.

I,m not sure I understand your question but if you are referring to the turn signals remaining on even after you have made a turn and straightened out the steering wheel then the problem is your turn signal switch in the steering wheel. This is common problem with many vehicles. What happens is a little 'tab' breaks off and the switch does not cancel any longer. Everything works except that after making a turn and straightening the wheel the turn signal just keeps on clicking and flashing. Maybe this isn,t what your talking about but that,s how I interpreted it. Good luck.

It appears as if you have a bad or stuck flasher...on most vehicles it's a small silver (round or square) plugin item located either under the dash, or near the fuse panel. Some vehicles actually have 2 of these, but your Jimmy should just have one. I don't know what "box" you replaced... but my advice would be to take the vehicle to a mechanic and he will be able to locate the flasher for you with no problem. You could also go to Auto Zone or some similar place...they'll come out to the car and help find it, and sell you a new one.

Hope this helped a little.
