What piece of technology do you wish had never been invented and why? What needs to be invented?

Just throwing out a question(s) for the heck of it. Just wondering if there was any invention people wished never existed. Also what sort of piece of technology people think we need and why?

Shovel--very hard to operate and used to hide things like bodies.

Need-- fake gasoline that gets your car 150 mpg and costs 25 cents per gallon

I wish the personal music player had never been invented because kids are hooked up to them all the time and have no sense of the value of silence. It hurts their brains to never have down time during the day and hurts their concentration and attention spans when they study and do school work with those things in their ears. It also hurts their ears, come to think of it. Kids say, "I need it to concentrate!" But I have read the research and, as a teacher, seen the unpleasant results. It also makes classroom management difficult at times when they think it's their right to listen to music during school. "What? I can hear you!" They have no idea how rude it is to have those things in their ears when someone is talking to them!

An unpopular opinion, I know.

As for what I wish I had, I want an invisible personal air filter. One that really works well, is tiny and invisible when in use, and is affordable.

I wish the internet had never been invented. Although it has made my life complete it has also lost me many family and friends. I only have hopes and dreams with the internet, and have lost all activity in reality due to it.

Oh, there are many pieces that I wish had never been brought into existence . . . cell phone, video game, dvd player.

I would have to say the television. Its such a powerful form of media. I would like to see it's power put to use for more good than it currently is today.
