I have some coins, which are NOT valuable, and I would liek to clean them to make them shiny agian. They are pennies and other coins. I'm looking for Home remadies, such as cleaning solutions or home products. THE VALUE of the coins is not an issue, so please no "Don't clean them, it demishies the value" speechs.

PS Sorry, about poor spelling.

I know cleaning non-valuble coins seems pointless, but I have a collection of dates, and want to keep them shinny for my own personal collection. (Value of coins is not there, but sentimental value is high) I've put alot of work into finding certain dates, and want to display clean and shinny.

You mention shinning your coin and that mean some polishing with finger. Soaking the coin with vinegar or soda, only remove the yellowish stain.
Cheap way having the coin shine and smelling good is using toothpaste. No soaking require.
Put a little toothpaste on the centre on the coin (both side) and rub it with your finger. You will notice the color with change, rinse the coin with water and you will see the different.
If certain area of the coin do not give your that shine, repeat the process and you will get the result.

Ps. next time when any of your family or friends go for holiday, ask them to bring back hotel toothpaste..that way you dont waste $$$

Lay out a clean soft cotton cloth to place cleaned coins on.
Apply Windex or a solution of warm water and dish detergent to coins that need to be cleaned to keep them from becoming permanently damaged. Then immediately rinse them with plenty of water to remove all traces of the cleaning solution.
Rub vaseline on both sides of the coin with your fingers. If any dirt remains, rub with a soft cloth or tissue.
Rinse the coin with distilled water after cleaning; tap water contains minerals that may leave spots on the coin.

SOak it in coke for a while. Try not to use diet. If you still see dirty marks, it just means there was an air bubble on that spot. Good luck

I use Catsup. The Acid in it really makes them
shine. Just let them soak for about ten minutes.
