I have a motherboard with a subpar amd chip and then I have a p4 3.6 laying around. Can I swap em out?

No. For one thing I'm sure the pin count is different on the 2 chips, as in Socket xxx.

no...different sockets...(socket 775, or 478 for the intel chip while its socket 754, 939, or A for the amd chip) and different chipsets too....

no you can't. The architecture of the motherboards are totally different from each other. Plus it will not fit on the motherboard.

yes there is a converter card u can get but its not advisable to swap cpus.
sicne can cause a problem with windows etc.
