You are smart to start now while you are young. Be sure to avoid soda,it is FULL of calories and even the diet sodas are not healthy. Drink water for thirst. The flavored waters are good too, be sure they have less than 40 calories. Eat whole grains and vegetables and fruits. The food pyramid is a good place to start. Fast food is especially high in calories ...Good luck! You can do this, it just takes planning. If you write a diary of what you eat you might be able to see where you are going wrong, if you have the ability to see a nutritionist it could help a lot! Regular exercise makes a huge difference!

I personally don't believe in "programs or techniques". They are usually fad diets by another name. I think that the best advice is to follow a sensible diet. If it feels like your eating too much you probably are. If it is too rich or too heavy, don't eat too much of it. You don' have to give up everything. Just use common sense and eat in moderation. Changing your mindset is likely the best thing you can do for yourself. Don't tell yourself that you can't, know that you can. Food is not supposed to be a source of pain or agony. Make peace with yourself and believe in yourself and just use common sense. Incorporate exercise into your daily routine in small increments. This way it won't feel like a chore. I hope this helps and good luck!!!

It will not happen overnight. Cut out all sugar, bread, & starches. Eat veggies, lean meat, and fruit. Walking everyday will help tremendously, and drink lots and lots of water. I have lost 60 lbs doing this. I lost 40 the 1st 6 mon. and the other 20 took about 8 mon. It was very slow but i have kept it off for 2 yrs.

MyPyramid.gov might be helpful. You can enter your age and you can track your activity and food intake so you have help monitoring calories. Best thing is that it's free! Portion size and healthy choices and exercise will help you, over time, get the results you want. Be patient and best of luck!

It takes time, and patience but at the end it will show. You have to keep dieting and exercising.
