What are your theories on how Barbossa came back to life? Did Tia Dalma (the voodoo girl) bring him back to life? Or did he survive the end of the first movie?
Also, in the middle of the movie when the crew is in Tia Dalma's house, you see the monkey go to a pair of boots being worn by somebody lying down (we don't see who it is). Does anyone think that it was Barbossa?
I just wanna hear some theories.

I just realized that the curse still applied to the monkey (as we see in the beginning of the movie). But where there any scenes where Pintel and Ragetti (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pintel_and_Ragetti) were exposed to moonlight? Because I don't remember any. Also, in the first movie where Barbossa is "killed" while the curse is off, and the monkey reinstated the curse, would that have brought Barbossa back to life?

I think that WAS Barbossa. The monkey stole one of the Aztec coins for Barbossa at the end of the first movie, so that he still couldn't die. That's what I think, anyway. :) Anyone agree with me?

If you actually watched all of the credits and gave a little time to reading the list of amazing people who make a film, you would have gotten a little reward and you would know why Barbossa is alive. After the credits of the first movie, the monkey goes back to the chest. He grabs a medallion, and it is shown that he is a skeleton when he goes into the moonlight. My guess is that Barbossa wasn't quite dead yet at that point, so the monkey saved him. No one thought to kill the monkey and look what happens.
I'm pretty sure that the boots were Barbossa's.
As for Pintel and Ragetti, they are no longer cursed. In the first movie, because Will dropped the medallion and his blood in the chest, everyone who took a medallion had the curse lifted. THEN the monkey took a medallion, causing only HIM to be cursed. I wonder if Barbossa took a medallion after the monkey helped him. I doubt it though; he hated being cursed.
They sure left a lot of loose ends hanging at the end of that film! But I loved it! Especially the brilliant action scene on the island with the wheel!

Barbossa was dead after the first movie but at the end of it, Jack (the monkey) was stealing the gold again. Since he belongs to Barbossa, the spell was envoked again. I think the boots did belong to Barbossa.
Just another thought to: Isn't it odd we saw that scene at all? Almost like it was an afterthought and the movie originally ended with Captain Jack being swallowed by the Cracken. POTC three will have to be an interesting trailer, No Jack in it otherwise we will know beforehand that he isn't really dead.

Okay - now I realize I have to see it more than one time!!! I am going to have to look closely at all of these things. I think Tia Dalma had something to do with bringing back Barbossa fer sher.

My theory is as follows
If you pay attention in the first movie Jack pulls the trigger and shoots Barbossa. However when he does shoot him the curse is technically still in effect seeing as how Will had not yet dropped the coin thereore returning it to the chest. You may argue that Barbossa bled, but if you notice while in their "human" form the cursed pirates still bled from stab wounds and whatnot. I think that Barbossa tricked them all.
That's my two cents.

I think that they boots were Barbossa's. And I think that the Voo-Doo lady more than likely did something and brought him back after the end of the first movie. Just my thought.

i think tia brought barbossa back to life because she can see the future and knew that he would be of help to them to find captain jack!!
and i think the boots were also barbossa's!!!

I think it is Barbossa. The monkey seemed to reconise him I guess when it made a noise

But I was just so happy when Barbossa came on the screen...I squealed with delight in the movie theater.

I didn't notice the boots...Tia Dalma is probably the best explanation as to why Barbosa is alive because he did die in the first film.
