I am proud of being what I am (Scots-Irish-Cherokee), and I am kind of from all over. My dad was in the Marine Corps, and we moved around a lot when I was a kid - we never lived anywhere longer than 3 years, and then I married a Marine, and we moved four times in the first 3 years we were married.

My ancestry is Persian, although the last two generations of my family were born in India. I, myself, was born in Hong Kong...

...But I have an Indian Passport, which used to really bother me when I was younger in primary & high school. People tend to look down on Indians, so I felt very insecure about it.

Now that I'm (much!) older, I am at peace with it. I love India, although many Indians drive me crazy as I can't handle their predjudices against women, "lower social classes", those who have dark skin (contrary to popular belief, a lot of Indians do NOT!), and the way they usually treat employees...

I find many of the traditional festivals, customs, clothing, architecture & art beautiful, and I enjoy the culture (I LOVE Bollywood movies! Ha ha!) & the food, but not so much more as that of other nations.

At the end of the day, no matter what my passport, or where I was born, I identify with many, many different nationalities because of my personal & educational background. I was educated in England, lived in San Diego, & lived in Philly for a long, LONG time! I have friends from a multitude of nationalities, so I really consider myself a "Universal Child..." and yes, I'm really kind of proud of that.

I'm from Tennessee, but I'm not really proud of it because I am still living here now. It's not very exciting and I am a big city girl.
