My husband is getting ready to turn 20, and he's never had his own birthday party. Not because his family doesn't celebrate birthdays, but because his mom favors his older brother, who is getting ready to turn 26. And they always celebrate my husbands birthday with his. He's never had his own cake or anything. This really upsets me. I am throwing him a birthday party, not inviting them. But my question is this, how do I make his birthday party really special? We don't have a lot of extra money, so I need ideas on how to pull this party off cheap, but still have lots of fun. Please help! All ideas are appreciated.

Those are all wonderful ideas. My mom is cooking steak and we're going to have baked potatoes. He likes clowns, so we're going to make him a clown ice-cream cake. But what do I do to make his party truly memorable? There's going to be only about 9-11 people. I just want to do something really sweet to show him just how much I love him.

My friend just did the same thing for her boyfriend and I helped her plan a really nice barbecue. She bought a brisk had it sliced thin and had the meat barbecued on the grill. We made a big potato salad, and beans, chips, dip and drinks we also had a cake. This was the least expensive party we ever put on and we feed well over 50 people. We had lots of food hope this helps.

You should throw him a private party with cake, ice cream, and lingerie (on you). Cook (or go out to) a nice dinner, and spring the surprise on him. I think that would be pretty cool. If you want a more typical party. Just have people over for a bbq or something similar. You can find decent, but inexpensive beer and wine and hamburgers and hot dogs are pretty cheap. You can even ask friends to buy beer. Use evite (www.evite.com) to send invites as it is free. Good luck.
