if by 'thinking' u mean processing along a defined set of rules, then yes computers 'think' (where thinking means processing),, but if by thinking you mean intelligent thought (as in human 'fuzzyish' thought), then no, computers cannot think, though they can appeat to think and have intelligence,,, therefore computers 'exhibit' intelligence,,, hence the phrase 'artifical' intelligence (AI).

You should read up on the Turing Test and other tests for machine 'intelligence'..

well there is not really a computer in the public release that has intelligence, since AI is still in the very early stages.
sicnce all computers work on a series of portocols, does use any intelligence to get the answer or query we use.

No, there's a difference between information, which computers can store; and knowledge, wisdom or experience.
Knowledge is about how to use the information that you have, how it applies in the real world and in changing situations. It also means that you can apply your knowledge to a new situation by trying out previously succesful techniques; and humans can also invent new techniques.
Computers can't do that. All they can do is store information, and access it and respond according to the rules that are programmed in. We don't always stick to the rules, and we can do that because we can make judgements about what is appropriate.

does.. not.. compute....

As yet computers are not self aware. They are however being taught to learn. This dosn't meen they will be writing poetry, just to recognise objects, hold a semi-literate conversation, perform simple tasks etc...
You could say the spell-check within Office Word is intelligent as it will correct you, but it isn't alive or intelligent as you may consider humans (really! that paperclip cannot do anything right!!) :)

they could act clever, in spite of the shown fact that it took a human suggestions to create them. gadget intelligence lacks one function, they can't think of for themselves, people could desire to software them.
