The league is sort of starting to lean more toward guards, as there is a shortage of star big men right now. The best up and coming true big men are Yao Ming and Dwight Howard and Chris Bosh, though Howard and Bosh aren't true centers.

Of course, there are guys like Amare Stoudemire, but those are not true back to the basket big men like Shaq.

Greg Oden, the top college freshman, might be the next "true" center to reach star status if Ming doesn't do it first.

Yao Ming
Dwight Howard
Tim Duncan

These are in no particular order, but the NBA is really struggling for centers right now, since players that used to be the right size for center now play power and even small forward(dirk, pao gasol, garnett). It is a finesse game and a seven footer can be much more effective when they do not weight 300 pounds. Shaq is an anomoly.

In the 80s and 90s big men have ruled the NBA (Ewing, Parish Olojuwan etc.) now all the stars are guards. The next big men: Okafor, Bogut , Dwight Howard

I think Andrea Bargnani from Italy will be great. A big guy with the abilities of a shooting guard. Different style than Shaq, but he will still be a great player.

they could be thrilling to computer screen... yet lebron would not play as a small ahead, on paper it says he's a small ahead yet thats no longer what he surely performs. Lebron would not count number as a huge guy. and they do call for the ball too a lot. Theres a distinction between having a capturing take care of and a center that dominate, yet having 2 capturing guards only wont artwork.

It has to be Greg Oden. He's not even done growing yet and he's over 7'' foot and he's strong. I think in his first year he'll average at least 20 ppg.
