I have an picture taken with a digital camera. I dont think the flash was on. The subjucts in the foreground are extremely dark, background is well lit and visible. Is there a way to balance it out so that the subjects are visible? I've tried the basic brightness and contrast and it doesn't help. Just makes it grainy. Any help is much appreciated. Thank you.

Well a fair amount can be done to adjust images in Photoshop and similar programs. If you do not have the program, and if the photo is not of something untoward, I would be happy to try my hand at cleaning it up a bit for you. If you are so inclined, you can email it as an attachment to anonymourati@msn.com Be sure to send be a return email address as well so that I will know where to send the completed image back.

Sometimes gamma helps when brightness and contrast will not. Also, you might go ahead and turn the brightness/contrast up, then turn down the color channel of the grain (if it seems to be restricted to a few colors, that is).
