I like his character and value the ability to apply deductive reasoning skills and common sense in both professional and daily mundane capacities.
I doubt he'd work as a world model of behavior though: A world where people are efficient but can't get along because of lack of personal insight and cooperation wouldn't be a very balanced world.
But I think I share your appreciation for his character and I think it's a very intelligent show (with a plot that's fatally formulaic, unfortunately).

I love House....at first glance you really don't like him very much but he grows on you really quick....I think he's even cute now!
He's the type of guy that would offend you but at the same time he wouldn't (sorta hard to describe) I would love to have a friend like him, he tells it like it is and doesn't sugar-coat everything....I just love his brutal honesty and how he thinks outside the box, so little people do these days!!

Love him, love him, love him!
I work in the medical field, and he says what all of us would like to say.
If people could be told things bluntly, they may listen a little better. Instead we have to pussyfoot around all the important factors to be "politically correct" and "gentle". People aren't getting the messages that way. What's wrong with coming right out and saying, "Your lifestyle sucks, shape up or you'll die?"
I'd be like him...for sure.

Never watched the show, but I do agree that the world would be much better with more common sense and maturity...

From a personal point of view, one needn't be incredibly rude to be incredibly intelligent.
Life is balance, where you excel in one area of your life, you will fail in another area.
As it has been said before, "To have a perfect piano, you must tune it imperfectly."
Admittedly, "Dr. House" is nothing more than a TV character. However, I have met people like him. I neither like them, nor dislike them. I merely accept them for who they are.

I like him. The longer you work with a person like him, the more you become desensitized with his obnoxious ways. I once had a boss who is like him. But then we just didn't care about him eventually.

I like him even though he is an arrogant prick! He's smart! Would I want to be like him? Not as far as the arrogance goes, but yes for the smarts.
