I would never give up joy just to never have pain, loss or sorrow. It's human to have these feelings and it sculpts us as an individual. What has happened to us in the past has only made us better for the future. We can't control what is going to happen to us, but we can learn and grow from it.

then wouldnt you feel barely anything? if so, then no. i would rather have pain, sorrow, and the feeling of loss then to give up ever being really and truly happy. because if you dont have those 3 things that you arent really alive are you?

No, joy is even greater when compared to these negatives. You must have them all to understand each of them. Besides being just happy all the time would probably make you insane. You need a balance to learn how to handle life.

No...life needs those things...we need pain and love...sorrow and happiness...loss and gain...sadness and joy...if we don't then life as we know it would cease to exist.

No - my father died last year and I know that I had a long time with him and a lot of wonderful memories that have sustained me. I wouldn't give those up - even though the months just after he died were sad and painful.
