each time I turn on my pc i get the following error message:

Error loading p2esocks_1048.dll
The specified module could not be found

what does this mean and how can I fix it?

In my virus vault there's a virus on this same module (backup version) that's unhealable

I have a virus checker (AVG) which detected and moved the virus to a vault, but states it as uncleanble.
I've defrag'ed; used system clean up, everything I can think of!

Well probably that file has been infected with the virus and corrupts the file! try checking your recovery CD for that file and try replacing that file then or see if there are any backups made of that file...if you found that exact same file then let your avg delete the infected dll and just place the fresh dll where it belongs

After googling for this, I found that AVG is a common factor. Buy a decent anti-virus :)

Ouch. sounds like you have a nasty virus, get your virus scanner to clean and infected file, and then restore it..

If you cannot, go to Microsoft Knowledgebase and search for that dll file.

to go start> run

and type: MSCONFIG

then click on startup tab:

See if you can locate that entry and uncheck it, save, restart.
