I've noticed lately that music is going a different direction category wise. Country doesn't sound quite country, pop, rock, everything is changing a little. A lot of retro going on, Madonna sounding like disco, Christine Aguilera doing a 40's ish big band era album. What do you all think?

Country has been doing Rock for the past several years, and it has been making them more money so I don't see that going away.

Dave Matthews spawned a whole generation of whiners with acoustic guitars... that scene is going to be over as soon as any one of them is good, or if Dave puts out something that puts all these three chord guys to shame.

What passes for rock these days seems to be searching for the next big sound... I think that the moping Seattle sound is fading, but they haven't quite found anything to replace it except for this pop music with rappy lyrics, but that will only last until someone finally breaks the dam and releases something that truly rocks, then everyone will copy it and all will be right with the world.

Rap... at least they have cooled off on the whole 'my gang is gonna pop caps in your gang' thing and are singing about their bling. hopefully soon they will rap about the value of getting a day job.

The Clear Channel poster boys that dominate mainstream music all make me vomit. Everything is so vanilla, so plain. Bands like Snow Patrol and all that junk are so bleh. But look deeper and there's some great stuff out there. For a source for more hidden/better artists, go to www.pitchforkmedia.com. They are kinda inde-holier-than-thou, but just ignore that part - they actually know what good music is.

Rock is going 80's. On the radio I heard a song that sounded exactly like "Kickstart My Heart".
That's what I get for listening to the radio. :(
The mainstream rock will continue to turn into hair metal.
Maybe not in look, but in sound.
The "underground" is full of hardcore bands that call themselves metal but only know 3 chords. Then they add a riff from "slaughter of the soul" or "jester race". ******* weak.
Real metal, however will not get huge like megadeth/metallica did in the late 80's. :(

I think most new music sucks. Emo is taking over all rock. All rap sounds the same. Country always sucked, and I couldn't care less about the pop scene.

Music is great just for this reason, it changes all the time. I'm kinda diggin' the way music is going. Stuff like Jack Johnson and Narls Barkley...really cool stuff.

Music seems to go backwards in time. One min. you maybe listening to 80's and the next 70's. It is just like clothse we are going back into the 80's with leggings and skirts.

As long as Jack White and Pete Doherty are still making music I'll be happy.
