9x^2-36y^2 = (3x)^2-(6y)^2 = (3x - 6y)(3x+6y) ,
by difference of perfect squares.

(3x-6y) = 3(x-2y) and (3x+6y) =3(x+2y).
Therefore, the answer is = 3(x-2y) 3(x+2y) = 9(x-2y)(x+2y).

This is a difference of squares....which you should probably memorize if possible (3x-6y)(3x+6y)

A^2-B^2 = (A-B)(A+B)

hmmm... ok.. first factor out the 9

9(x^2-4y^2)
now.. break 9 down into it's prime factors...

3*3(x^2-4y^2)

now... factor x^2-4y^2... hmmm... (x + 2y)(x-2y)
3*3*(x+2y)*(x-2y)
