Though I am an Indian, I like the ODI between Australia and South Africa very much.

It is the best ODI that I have seen in my life till date.

The main interesting thing about this match is that the courage of the SouthAfrican team to chase such a high total though Australia did much score. In a normal ODI, for chasing a total of 300 plus is some what impressive.

When the team batting first scores a world record score of 434 then many and almost every one thought that Australia is going to win but the courage of G Smith and mainly the innings of H Gibbs had turned the match around.

The match tossed towards both teams till Mark Boucher hit that winning shot. It is a nerve threatening match that I had ever experienced.

Though I am an Indian fan, I rate this match more than India Vs Pakistan and Ashes matches.

Hope you like this.

Who will forget that bright and sunny day at Lords, England on the 13th of July 2002, when India and England battled it out for the Natwest Trophy. A day which witnessed the dramatic coming of age of two young turks form the new look Indian team. Yuvraj Singh and Mohammad Kaif. A partnership that got India back from the brink of nowhere, particularly with the Big four - Sachin, Sourav, Dravid and Sehwag - back in the pavilion. An innings that Mohammad Kaif would rate as the best he has played to date. And a winning stroke that Zaheer Khan will discuss with his grandchildren long after he has hung up his boots. Enjoy 2 hours of non stop action of this high energy and historic match .

Australia vs South Africa - not the recent match where both sides made 400+, but this goes seven years back: The 1999 World Cup Semi-final.

Australia posted a score of 213 all out in 49.2 overs. South Africa had been known to notoriously underperform in their batting, but the lower-order guys like Boucher & the deadly, in-form Klusener would save their butt. This time also, in the chase South Africa's top order had been broken down. Then Kallis & Rhodes put up a saving face till the 40th over when they reached 148/4 or so. That is the time when our Jonty was caught at the deep & he walked back to the pavilion shedding his tears. But thereafter, the remaining batsmen put up a good fight & Klusener was still batting when they only had one wicket left & in the last over they had to hit 9 runs to win. Klusener, in his top form, smashed two fours of the first two balls to tie the game & was left with a very simple job of just taking a single with a comfortable four balls remaining. But then things turned cruel, Klusener started panicking under Steve Waugh's tight fielding & eventually he was run-out without being able to take the single & South Africa were eliminated form the competition (it was a tie, but based on head-to-head record, Australia had the advantage).

That was by far the best cricket match ever played & the most exciting World Cup ever. The turning point of that match, in my opinion was the wicket of Rhodes - if he had stayed with Kallis, South Africa could have probably been more relaxed in winning, instead of panicking at the last mnute.

I think the Australia-south Africa ODI was a stunning one.
I've never seen such a match before.Two big scores-434 & 438.
Even after getting a huge score to chase, S.A set out to bat with a "If we get we may get a big one but if we don't its ok-let's try"attitude.
I really appreciate Gibbs for his amazing century. The team work that S.A showed is a lesson to other teams. After that match,S.A became my fav cricket team apart from my country team.
The way they started the game itself was absolutely fabulous.
No one would've expected such a nice finish for that game.
Bye.......

Mine was the worldcup finals of 1983, I was just 8 then, didnt know anything abt cricket, My dad was listening to the commentary on radio, and when India was all out for 183 he went to sleep. But i stayed glued on and on every wicket that fell I informed him and when Lloyd was dismissed , my dad got his hopes back that India might win. and when dujon got out we went to a neighbours house to see it live on TV. these were my first memories of seeing a match on TV and thats the day when I got infected :)
