i think he's really good at scoring goals, so why was he on the bench most of the time?

Because Scolari insists in having "his" players on the field even if they are clearly out of form. Pauleta played all the games even after it became clear to everyone that he was completely out of ritm. Same thing with Costinha. Petit was in a much better form and almost didn't play. Scolari is great at motivating players but his tactics stink. They probably costed Portugal a place in the final...

Scolari does not rate him better than Pauleta as a player.

ask the coach. they make those decisions. but i agree that hes a great player and a great asset to the portuguese team.
