How can the space buggy drive (remain flat on the moon surface) if there is no gravity? What prevents it from just floating away? How can a person walk on the moon and not just float away?

Thanks!! :)

There is gravity on the moon it is just less than the earth due to the moon having a smaller amount of mass to begin with. The buggy stays down due to it's mass being great enough. The person has extra wieght in the suit.

Moon Has Gravity About 1/3rd That Of Earth

The moon is large enough to have significant gravitational attraction. It's gravity is around one sixth as strong as earth's gravity (both measured at the surface), but it's definitely there. Something the size of the international space station does not have enough mass (and therefore gravity) to attract an astronaut or a buggy, so in that case those things would float away.

The moon isn't zero gravity, it's got a gravitational field. It's 1/8th Earth's gravity, but there's still gravity. That's how the astronauts were able to stay on the moon's surface without assistance.

The moon has gravity. It is 1/6 of Earth's gravity.

There is gravity on the moon - everything that has mass has gravity. The moon's gravity is just much less than the Earth's.
If you look at the footage from the Apollo missions from the 60s and 70s you will see that the astronauts discovered that they could "bunny hop" better than they could walk. Since their bodies weighed so much less walking was a bit weird.

The moon does have gravity, just less than the Earth. You watched the videos of the landings. The astronauts came back down after they hopped.

There is gravity on the moon...it's just under 1/6th of Earth's gravity.

Actually there is gravity on the moon, although it is much less than the gravity on the earth. The escape velocity for ANY object on the moon is a mere 2.4 km/s where as on the Earth it is 11.2 km/s....
