Coincidentally, I just finished reading it about a week ago after buying it for 25 cents at a flea market. It was a pretty good book, except I skipped over the parts about the author's life because I wasn't interested. I only wanted to hear about the young man who was the focus of the book. I can recommend the book, and it is an easy ready. I think the subject of the book was a bit of a sociopath and I don't agree with the way he went off into the wilderness, but it was interesting to read about.

No, but I am trying to get hold of it on e-bay. I can't find it at the local bookshops - an I have looked.
I've read Jon Krakauer's "under the banner of heaven," which gave me the chills about modern day polygamy and brainwashing.
He comes across as a brilliant journalist - he lets the facts do the talking . His dry almost clinical understatement made my mind work overtime to fill in what he didn't say. Not mental bubblegum at all.

The book is interesting but nothing great to me.
The story is written in a dry style, more journalism than anything.
So it gets too long and shallow and most misses the link between wilderness and human mind.As if Krakauer didnt know what it is.
An easy reading.

No, I haven't. Is he the same author who wrote "Into Thin Air" - the Everest disaster? I read that one.
