It will make it worse and lead to tissue death/infection possibility due to the smoke getting in the irritated tissue in your throat. The smoke will also slow the healing process as the new tissue tat is trying to form will necrose (tissue death). Smoking while pregnant is a horrible idea for the munchkin. The nicotine levels and smoke itself will transfer across the placenta and lead to a higher risk of birth defects, asthma, and seveer allergies. The strep is not as much an immediate threat to the fetus, but it is not necessarily good if you are sick for the baby. Go to the doctor, tell him you are pregnant, and he will prescribe the appropriate treatment that is baby-safe.
