There shouldn't be a problem as long as you don't have any pain. If you are really unsure and just want to take precaution wear goggles. I have been swimming for a long time without wearing anything nothing has happened to my eyes from opening them underwater. Maybe you wouldn't want to do it in a public pool because you never know who peed in it. But I have never heard anything saying that it is bad to swim in the pool with your eyes open.

i hav e been swimming for as lon as i remeber, to a point wear some ppl. i k now called me a sea creature. i allways open my eyes under water and it is okay, my eyes may turn red after swimming some times but it is okay, but u must make sure the water is clean. plus i don't open my eyes i n clorine water but in salt water too, and my eyes are perfectly fine.
thinking of it in another perspective. have u ever worn lenses?? a doc. may give lens solution, rewets and cleans the lens, and u may applie it to ur eye, what is it made of?? salt water. have ur eyes ever get dry?? the doc. gives u an eye drop, artificial tears. and all water has a precentage of clorine in it, even mineral water, check it on a mneral water bottle . i say there is no real harm.

No, I have had hot tubs and swam in pools.
The chemicals burn, but so does salt water and you see those on Survivor with their eyes open all the time.
Most of the chemicals used are what are in nature, just synthesized so you can purchase them at a cheaper rate.
Enjoy swiming, it is pleasurable and good for your health.

Nope
The chlorine is so diluted that it will not hurt your eyes.
It really comes down to personal preference.
I can't open my eyes at all underwater (phobia) but if you have goggles on, why would you ever need to do that?

If you swim in any pool (especially indoor) for any length of time, more than half an hour or for ANY amount of lap practice, you should wear good goggles.
