Probably because America has such a large Jewish population, and their votes are important. But that's not a valid reason, of course. We need to address why the Palestinian terrorists and the Lebanese terrorists have a reason to exist (I don't think they are there just for the fun of it) The unpalatable truth is that eventually you have to talk to these people, even if behind closed doors, like Britain eventually did with the IRA after years of London and other cities being bombed by IRA terrorists in the cause of a united Ireland.

Why would you think Israel is being aggressive? They were 1st attacked. Their men where kidnapped. You know if the US would have handled precious terrorist acts strongly maybe 9/11 would have never happened. Diplomacy is the best way but when missles start flying you cant turn the other cheek. Israel has every right to be left alone. If their neighbors would leave them alone this wouldnt happen. How hard is that? It is like dealing with children. If they keep poking the sleeping pit bull eventually they will be bit, and when they do get bit they want to cry about it to the dog handler. QUIT POKING THE PIT BULL!!!

Israel's actions do not meet the legal definition of "aggression". You seem to overlook the fact that Israel's border was crossed, some of its citizens were killed, and others were kidnapped. This was done by Hezbollah; they admitted it, but you still seem unable to accept the fact. That border-crossing, citizen-killing, and citizen-kidnapping are what international law considers aggression. Israel's response to it is legally considered self-defense, which is why all the world's governments (including Lebanon's) keep using words like "proportionality" -- which is one of the legal elements to be examined in instances where nations engage in self-defense measures. Proportionality is not a legal concept associated with aggression.

The US, therefore, is not supporting Israeli aggression. It is supporting Israel's right under the UN Charter to defend itself against incursions like Hezbollah's (and the Palestinians' apparently coordinated attack). The US has called on Israel to pay attention to proportionality in its self-defense.

You, however, grossly mis-state the reality of the situation and seem to deliberately overlook the Arab provocations -- probably because you have political beliefs and don't want any facts or reality interfering with them. (This makes it surprising that you seem to be against the US administration, instead of for it, because your methods are the same.)

If you would kindly post a list of the world's governments that welcome cross-border incursions resulting in the deaths and kidnappings of its citizens, I would be very interested to see the list. Otherwise, stop this ignorant nonsense about Israel being the aggressor.

Because the US is scared of God, and God has been favoring Israel for quite awhile now.

Plus, Israel has a pretty good record against its current enemies, and Israel is the only nuclear power in the region. At this point Israel is just a North Korea that the United States agrees with.

Israel had repeated rocket attacks launched at it killing its citizens (all the rockets were aimed at the civilian populace). It had agressive action taken on it on its soil. It was even in talks with Lebanon about releasing the prisoners in question so this kidnapping is on a farce of a pretext. The people they are after have in the past attacked the US.

So yes, all in all we should support them.

Your question is loaded.

Who is the aggressor? The ones who kidnapped the soldiers and have been firing rockets into Israel since it withdrew from Lebanon in 2000?

Or Israel, who attacked in response to the kidnappings and the years of rocketing?

Lebanon attacked first in an internationally indesputable territory. Israel can't allow other countries to attack her.
