The west is the best ..yes SF is cool also Santa Barbara, Bend Oregon is awesome. Lake Tahoe also is beautiful.

I would highly recommend San Diego. Las Vegas is certainly a nice place to visit if you've never been. I've lived in LV and always enjoyed the many things to see and do. California is a wonderful choice, though, too. In San Diego you have the perfect weather conditions, the gorgeous scenery on the ocean, the historic Gaslamp District with all of the quaint shops, not to mention Sea World, the world famous Zoo, and the Wild Animal Park.

Just an FYI, Las Vegas isn't on the West Coast.
It's in the desert.

San Francisco.
Seattle in August is nice (not so much rain)
I like Boulder, CO (not West Coast, but neither is LV)
San Diego is considered the #1 city in the US.
