I have a tv card in my pc. I was thinking of connecting my video out of VCR to my antenna in to tv card. Then using tv card's internal recording to record some old family videotapes to then transfer them to DVD using Nero or the likes.

Any forseeable problems with that do you think??

I think it 'SHOULD' work but will wait on ''HONEST'' opinions from you teccies out there.

(If it matters - UK Pal system)

Connect it to the A/V in on your tuner card.
File size may be large if you record to MPEG-2; if you have option to record to DivX, use it

Why don't you buy a dvd recorder, they're very cheap now less than a hundred quid and just copy over your vids to dvd then just use nero to touch them up.I've got a SEG dvd recorder from Currys and am doing the same as you are archiving all my vids so far I've got through over a hundred and have had no problems. The good thing about doing it this way is that you can set it up on your tv and watch while you record ...I suggest you use quality dvds I use Verbatim and so far have had 100% success. Also don't forget you will need good storage for them
Good luck

I used that kind of a system here in US. I used Power Producer software and had no problems.
