Having lived in both metropolitan & rural areas, I think both have their good points, though I personally prefer rural life. The things I like about the rural area I live in now are: life is more relaxed, I feel more like a unique individual with something to offer the community rather than just a number, there seems to be a greater sense of place and community, more opportunity for solitude and peace/quiet, more nature and natural beauty.

I live in a small town rural area but i believe that both the cities and the small towns have their disadvantages along with their advantages. I prefer the small town over city though.

Living in the city your neighbors are close some people like space while others prefer to be close.
Stores and attractions are minutes away.
Jobsmay pay more.
If you break down you don't have to go far for help.
Taxes,Houses, property and even food is higher compared to a small town.
City is usually noiser.
There's alot of traffic.
I think the best advantage would be everything is close.

Less crime in the Country/small towns
Cheaper food property houses and taxes
It's quiet
You can enjoy the nature around you
People are normally friendly and help you out
Gas prices are lower but you may use more to travel
Less traffic
You have more room like yards and that
You can have almost any animal you want because of the space
School's are smaller which helps kids alot
you don't have to worry as much about your kids and crime
I life everything about it the people the space the scenery

Me again! You wont understand how many city folks attend churches until you have been there. They are almost never related but thier level of friedship is great. Even if you dont believe that way, you have to see it to understand people in a city. Because they too were once a small church town. If you want to tackle the city problem, you may just have to be there to know whats going on and how thier services are really helping if at all. Then you will have a better understanding. Have you ever seen clams, they are brown and rugged on the outside and beautifully ivory like inside. You can chip the outside brown spots off to have the same ivory look on both sides!

Lets see.....I came from a very secluded town in Miss.
Now I live in the biggest town in Alaska.
The advantage of living in a big town is that everything is only a 5-15 min. drive away. There is a disadvantage.....TRAFFIC !

In a small town, hardly any traffic.
Disadvantage....you have to drive a long ways 15-30 mins away to get errands done or go see a movie.

Crime is higher in the big cities !
In the country....at least you can sit on your porch withour worring if you are gonna be shot or robbed.

I am happy living where ever I live. I just moved to a small town from a big city, both have advantages. The pay rate in a small town is lower of that in a big city, but so is the cost of living. If you have children, small towns have less of a crime rate, and most crimes are small crimes, unlike cities where there is more highly dangourous crimes. I would say I like both equally

I have lived in both. A small town has less crime and tends to be cheaper, however , there is little to do, and most everyone knows everyone else and that can be annoying. In the city there is plenty to do, you just have to be a bit more cautious, but to me it is worth it. In small towns people tend to be a bit closed minded and that gets on my nerves. I prefer the city any day!

i have lived in a small town all my childhood(less than 1000 people)

positives- good education due to small class sizes and stronger student teacher relationships, developing many long lasting friendships with a variety of age groups due to having less people in your age group, the beautiful unpolluted outdoors and associated activites(campling, fishing, hunting, sports), plenty of space for sports and outdoor activities, lower taxes, less noise, you really know your neighbors, and a stronger sense of community.

I have mixed feelings about it but as far as career opportunities go I had to leave so I moved to the closest city (75,000 peeps) where I can easily visit whenever I want to. (a 45 minute drive), that way I can enjoy some of the beneftis of both:>)

its better to live in a small town because most people know you and its easier to navigate and there are more homes instead of apartments
