You have to pick up a liking for them. In fact, these 2 subjects were not my pet subjects while in school, but later on in life, I find that there is much to know about the world we live in that I try to learn more on these 2 subjects instead. Sometimes, I wished I had taken the interest much earlier while still studying though.

I have travelled around a bit. So I see people of different cultures and tradition, and it is through knowing history that I understand how they are like to this present day. You can still see them retaining their old customs and sometimes, it is like taking a step back in time to watch these performances. So I enjoy myself, matching their current way of life to their ancestors. And I appreciate what they had done to preserve their ancient values.

I had an interest in coins and currencies. And it became inetresting how the early country's monetary system come about, the history that gets depicted on the coins or notes. So looking at these nowadays, I draw on my memory on what the coin or note meant.

I use to be the same way (with math) and then I decided just b/c I'm not good at it, doesn't mean I have to dislike it. Remember math is all around us and b/c of it look at the progress man has made. You like cars? or anything technical-remember math played an important roll in commencing it. As, for history, well see how one mistake or move made 1,000 of years ago has shape the way the world is today or some think. It's amazing how history that once was is still living and will continue to shape the world. some history is very incredible, I still ask myself, "did that really happen". Believe me that knowledge you gain from appreciating math or history or whatever else you once dismayed will help you out in life, b/c it affects other areas as well. Good luck.

OK, can't help you in math...I'm still awful in it.
BUT
History...oh lord, how can you NOT like history? It means everything, the evolution of a country, how we got to be the way we are....WHO we are.
Take WWII, if you are bored with the idea of learning about it I can suggest a writer who will tell you how it was to be in the trenches wtih the men who lived and died for the USA....and he makes it alive, and the people human.
Ernie Pyle.
GI Joe,Here is Your War is a MUST.
just try and stop yourself from crying as you read about Captain Waskow.
THAT feeling, that knowledge that you, or your family might have had a part in history, it's personal, and important.
You may just learn more about yourself as you learn, too.

I used to hate pull-ups. Then I started doing them soo much, I started beating other people at pull-ups, and gained a reputation. Then I loved them.
A coach once told me: "Its not playing a sport that is fun, it is playing the sport well that is fun". This lesson can be used for more then just sports.
