Hi !

Ussually by telling him or her like a confession that you are in love with someone else. And assuring him or her, as the case may be (I do not know if you are a female or a male) that he or her is really a good friend of your, even asking her or his advice.

Just be honest and let the person know that you only want to be friends. That way, no one gets hurt.
