That we are all pretty much the same in every part of the world. We want to work hard for our families and raise them in peace. We sometimes work too hard... hence the stress... and forget to slow down and enjoy the important things in life. The pursuit of the all mighty dollar above all else is responsible for most of the world's problems.

I've met a lot of Brazilians, and most of them have seemed to see to have a more light hearted attitude than most North Americans. But you know what else I noticed, being around Brazilians brought out a more light hearted attitude in the North Americans when they were together. Don't worry, we like having fun, and anyone that's just mean or stressed will be positively effected by your influence.
But, the USA is big like Brazil, and the stress levels in folks seems to change a lot depending on where you go - if you're worried about a high stress environment, avoid the big cities. I live in a small city, and my neighborhood is very friendly.
But really, I don't think T.V. is a good way to judge any culture. I mean look at your own Brazilian T.V. shows. Do they represent you very accurately?

The truth is our life here is very different. We do things every day that we should be embarrassed of. We waste TONS of food, drive big cars and trucks, buy giant houses and spend incredible amounts of money. How do we justify it? We say, "Only in America." We even try to sell perfectly good stuff we don't use any more. They are called garage sales. To the best of my knowledge we are the only country that has them. Some people fill their garages with excess belongings and leave their expensive automobiles outside. Not everyone lives like the people you see on t.v., but some do. A small percentage of Americans are very wealthy. Remember, there is good and bad examples of conduct in every group of people. You should not form an opinion of an entire nation based upon the actions of a few. Our country does things the world community may consider bad, but it preserves our way of life. Would I trade this way of life for another. No way, Jose. You just make the best of your life no matter what circumstances you are confronted with.
As far as stress goes, I believe people can often control the amount of stress in their lives.
How do we get along with our neighbors? Friendly people are friendly with their neighbors. Unfriendly ones are not.
Make plans to visit America soon. Send me a message when you do. You'll like it.

That is a funny question. I live in the US and all I can say is, we as a whole are not bad people. You have to remember though, there are "bad" people is every society, no matter how good the society is.
For the most part, I do think Americans tend to be more stressed and hurried. We tend to work way to much I think.
As for the neighbor thing. That is a matter of personal preference. Some like to get to know thier neighbors very well, others rather not.

tv and movies are not real. sometimes they are close but not very often. You also can't say much about all of the people anywhere. I've lived in China for 7 months and I'm an American and I can see that anywhere you go there are good people, there are bad, some are stressed, some relaxed, nice, mean, rich, poor. Everyplace is made of individuals. Some don't talk to thier neighbor and some are very friendly. And everyone has thier own experience.

Just to start. TV is like the movies. There is no reality on TV. Americans are just like everybody else. We live, love, have friends, work, play, laugh and cry. People on a whole are generally the same. There of course are differences of culture. Many Americans are driven. Need to get things done now. However that also depends on where in the country you live. Some areas are more laid back( easy going), But basically we are just people like you. I hope this helps you understand

I am American Indian and live in Kansas City Missouri If you come here to the United States you'll find so many differnt kinds of people but you know there does seem to be alot of stressed out jerks around I would say like about 30% are totally jerks that just seemed to hate life with a passion then about 30% that are'nt to bad but are not really cool then you have us the other 40% who are happy and love life and are easy to get along with. No but for real don't go by exactly my numbers but it does seem there are more mean people than nice people but there is so many differnt races and stuff and differnt kinds of people. Let me tell you one thing for sure alot of people say Brazilians are beautiful people
alot of the men are so sexy. We do need some more sexy Brazilian men over here anyway My boyfriends from Micronesia his people come over here and still kinda live like they are back home I think that its cool they still keep alot of there ways but still adjust to our ways as well You might like it about the movies no its not like the movies much at least I don't think so And about the neighbors if you guys are anything like my boyfriends people it is really differnt when it comes to neighbors my boyfriend said that in his country everyone is welcome in everyones home even if they don't know you that you can like go up to someones door you dont know and they will just let you in and offer you something to drink or eat. Here in America it is not that way most people will call the police on you if you go up to there door and ask for a drink or something. I have alot of friends but I never talk to any of my neighbors cause thay are all uptight aassssssssss holleesss anyway I hope I helped answer a little of you questions

I think that in varies from person to person as well as from what part of the country you are from.I think that it also depends on your background, everyone has different customs that they do everyday. Most of the time what you see in movies doesn't relate to life here. Yes, people here work alot, but that is just what America is built on Capitalism. We live just like everyone else lives just a little bit more fast pace . I have visited Mexico alot and I see that over their the time seems to slow down, they take their time to eat and go shopping or just do nothing. Here at least for me I feel like a do so many things in one day and I still didn't finish doing everything that I was suppose to do.So in ways it is stressful but only because we make so, as for the neighboor part it all depends on your neightbors, if they are nice or not at leats for me I speak to mine.I don't know if its the same where you are from but I hope it helps.

I am married to a Brazilian. The way of life here is very different from your own. We are a very work oriented nation. Most of our households have both parents working. We are obsessed with our need for nice cars, big houses, restaurant foods etc. The costa de vida is very high if you want to live the lifestyle you are seeing on television. I thinking the stress you are referring to stems from the fact that many of us buy things on credit and then must work our asses off to pay for it. I know many Brazilian nationals who come here to make money. I know some who are successful and some who are not. If you work hard and live modestly you can achieve some aspects of the lifestyles shown on television. Our neighbors are our allies. However, illegal immigration must stop and we have lost our tolerance for our neighbors people coming in illegally. We also demand that if you come to our country to live, that you do it legally and that you speak our language.

Hey, keep this one in mind: The "American Dream" is just that: nothing but a dream! (This goes for Canada as well). Although many things about the social structure are susposed to be beneficial, the negatives outweigh a lot of it. One could go on a long complex debate, but the point being, don't get your hopes up thinking that you've come to the land of opportunity and happiness. Everything is all about the $$$ and covering your *** against lawsuits...this is the sad cold truth, hon!

Americans, generally speaking, are a good people. However, Americans as a society have yet to come to terms with the issues of race and class that still define much of what the American experience is for individual Americans. Also, at present, there appears to be a vast disconnect between the American government and what's best for American national interests.
