I was on the shots for 9 years and waited until the 13 week period was up and my doctor had me start on the Seasonale birth control the day my next shot was due. I had no issues switching and no problems being on the being on the shots. Got my period at the end of the 13 week of the Seasonale.

Stay away from the shots!! They are bad and do more harm than good. They screw up your hormones and some have even become unable to conceive because of it. You took it an awful long time so hopefully you quit it just in time. I was on it for 4 years and now have to go on some quest to find out why I can't have a period and am sure have to see all kinds of doctors for it. Good luck.

I switched from Depo to Nuvaring without having a period for 5 years. I was told to just put it in the same day I was supposed to get my next shot. Then when I took it out three weeks later I had a normal period.

It worked okay for me.

I'm not sure since you are switching birth control methods. Normally, when you start the pills you do have to wait until your period starts and then start the pills on Sunday. Since you are going to the doctor today, just remember to ask. :)

why don't you try an IUD without hormones. They are the most effective birth control without messing up your internal system after abstinence. You don't feel them and it doesn't hurt your body.

Hormones are bad and you may not be able to conceive after you stop the shots. You've been on it for too long!

Dam, that shot was not the way for me..I was told it could cause problems in the future with conceiving....You need to consult in an OBGYN about that sweetie
