You need to expose your parents to a wider array of rap. Only then can you determine whether they disagree with the language, the lifestyle, or that they are merely racist.
Dig up some tunes by Public Enemy, Common, and Kanye West, and also some "fun" stuff by Will Smith (the early stuff). Have your parents listen to those songs and tell you what they think. For the most part, these artists exhibit a greater depth to their work, and with respect to Public Enemy and Common, typically rap about social and political issues without resorting to profanity.
So, by excluding references to sex and violence, and excluding profanity, what's left for your parents to complain about? I'm interested as hell in knowing.

They don't understand it. Much like sincityq, they misinterpret what it is and where it comes from.
For the sake of context though, parents also hated rock and roll so we probably shouldn't read into this too much.
The fact is though, most parents who hate rap have never been to any hood and they have no idea that most of the stuff said in these ultra violent songs is actually happening on a nightly basis and that these MCs are jsut doing what every other artist has done throughout the history of song. Writing about their own experiences.

It's not the music, it is the lifestyle it promotes. Parents do not want their children to end up like the people they promote in the music, on drugs, sleeping around, poor and uneducated.

Because it is against the pace of their older and smoother hearts. The rap itself is not bad at all.

Bad language mostly. And also they hate the way that it has no tune. All rappers do is chant.
