I am very surprised and very confused.
I have two stories. That is what is so crazy.
1. From my friend who is LEBANESE:
Lebanon was in war for a long time, three parties fighting between each other.. Jews, Christians and Muslims. After interferences eventually all parties decided to cooperate with each other and announce the peace. The group however, named Hezbollah for many many years were being supported by Iran.. who financially and military (bombs) were supporting this group to act against Israel.
The group Hezbollah, was only one group so many year ago which decided to to hand in the weapons when every one else did. That carried on for few years and 3.5mil Lebanese people were actually scared of them. They have support of about 0.5 million people (who are not the original Muslim religion: as from Saudi Arabia, but the same as Iran Muslim: remember, they are different, but that is another question).
So this group carried on making trouble for a long time, they has some representation within the government.. but now because of their action.. the government and everyone else in not involved and for the first time the people of Lebanon have enough..
The Hezbollah group by themselves claimed to kidnap the two Israeli men and Israel decided enough is enough.. as Hezbollah even claimed part of Lebanese land (they planned to claim as their on country soon not even Lebanise people were save to go there) the Israel army knew exactly where to hit.. as they decided to wipe out the 'gorrilars' which are paralising Lebanon.
Also as Iran is doing the weapons, they want destruction from them so they paying Hezbollah to couse trouble.. bottom line many people make money now and many are happy.
That is why Israel is attacking and knows exactky where: and the reason they attacking airports etc, is to stop the Hesbollah leaders to run.. in meantime the people, civilians who are killed are the ones who support Hezbollah and their terrorist doings.. (via religion which is NOT an original Muslim followers!!))
2. From other Arabs: from Iraq and Palestine
The reason why Israel attacked as they want all the around Arab countries (Iraq, Quwit etc) to be in deat to USA.
Presonally this is very confusing me, however I must add.. why would Israel send messages to people to evacuate two hours before.....??? They dont want to kill but eliminate the Hezbollah and the long hand if Iran. As Iran is giving the bombs (I think since 1975) which can reach up to 120-150km.... so too far from Iran..
I also would like to know the real reson, so I will watch other answers.
Hope it gave some light
and lastly:
It seems that this is not between Israel and Lebanon, but between Israel and Hezbollah (terrorist gorrilas) within Lebanon (and Lebanon and its government is too week to do anything about it)
ps. To make it clear:
Hezbollah supportend by Iran
Parestin (Jordan) supported by Syria.
Ps. Why dont Jews just go and find another land.. in middle of Africa (and resolve some African problems)??
Why do USA need and EYE in form of Israel in the middle of Arab world..?? How cleaver.. eye on oil? Why do they claim it is the coutry since 1948 since it is not and most of the world leaders are jewish anyway so jews are all over the world... ??

Lebanon failed to follow the resolution set by the U.N. They
were to disban Hezbollah. The Hezbollah started sending rockets
into Israel and kidnapped 2 of its soldiers. How would that make you
feel? They are fighting is self defense and said that when Lebanon
fullfills the resolution set by the U.N. that then they will cease fire.
However the Lebanese government is not in control of its country.
The Hezbollah (terrorist group) controls it and is loyal to Iran!
Next problem. Iran is backing the Hezbollah with soldiers and
missles. So Iran is really running Lebanon! This will not be over
until Iran and the Hezbollah are taken out of power along with
Syria because they support Iran.

If the peacekeepers step in at this point, it will go back to the status quo - which will just prime the pump for the next round of conflict.
Better to just let things play themselves out, with the probable result being that Hezbollah will be annihilated, resulting in a better situation for Lebanon and for Israel.

While I don't believe that war is the right answer, I don't blame Israel for it's actions.
Israel withdrew from Lebanon six years ago in a process approved by the United Nations. What did it get in return?
Continued shelling and attacks from inside Lebanon, courtesy of Hezbollah terrorists -- the so-called "Party of God" -- backed by Syria and Iran.
Last year, Israel withdrew from Gaza through a painful process of forcing out Israeli settlers by sending in its own army.
What did it get in return? Continued attacks and shelling right under the nose of the Hamas government -- the so-called "Islamic Resistance Movement" -- backed by Iran and other terrorist groups.
Then, in recent days, first Hamas and then Hezbollah staged raids from their Gaza and Lebanon forward bases on Israeli military outposts, kidnapping one soldier in Gaza, and two in the Lebanese attack, while killing eight others.
Those describing the subsequent Israeli assaults on Lebanon and Gaza as "disproportionate" either ignore or refuse to acknowledge the facts on the ground.
That is, that experience shows giving up land does not bring Israel peace. Worse, the land that it gives up is then used as forward staging posts for continued attacks against it.
This negates any point to Israel giving up more land for peace -- most notably the West Bank -- until it is guaranteed, either by the United Nations, the G8, the Arab League or some other body that, in future, when it gives up land for peace, it will receive peace -- not more rockets and attacks -- for land.
Again... I don't condone Israel's actions... but I can hardly blame them.

It's a sad state of affairs that plague Israel and Lebanon. This war started with religion, and may never be resolved. People are trained from youth to believe they have the right answers to GOD, and are taught to be intolerant towards others who do not share their believes. Polo tics and religion is a dangerous thing.
The history of this conflict is understood differently depending on which side you tend to believe. I will say this about the Jewish,; I have never heard of them sending suicided bombers in to kill Christians or Islams. I could be wrong!
Most of us here in the United States are Judea Christians in history, so I tend to see the Jewish side as being correct.

The Israeli conflicts can best be summed up by a single phrase from the Family Circus cartoon ... "Dolly hit me first."
They act like spoiled children ... and for some stupid reason the United States and much of the EU have been complacent about taking any serious action towards stabilizing the region ... like demanding Israel stop bombing civilians if it wants to keep the enormous aid check the U.S. sends each year.

This is just part of the on-going battle between Islam and the Jews. It will not end until Jesus Christ comes back to set up His millennial (1000 years) kingdom to rule the the world through Israel as head of the nations. That will be a time of peace, prosperity and good-will toward men. Are you ready for it? You must know Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior to enter to the millennial kingdom.

Israel is tired of a foreign government allowing terrorist to operate within its borders and attack Israel. they have the weapons and the technologies to do what they need to do. with any luck the people of Lebanon will get tired of getting bombed on account of Hezbollah and kick them out themselves, not likely though. that part of the world is nuts, the middle east will be the cause of WW III i guarantee it.

It's ridiculous and tiresome...besides childish...and worst than that is having our kids fight a war that has nothing to do with us...if they want to kill each other, let them...I'm just so tired of the whole situation, it's not funny!!!
