OR hurting the squirrel? Someone said poison but if it dies up there , it will stink, plus thats cruel. PLEASE help me, before it chews our electric wires or something else! I can hear it up there chewing something. Traps are not an answer, because our attic doesnt have easy access and we would have to check a trap often.

Look for a humane trap and put it in the attic. Usually you bait them with peanut butter. I did a search on "Humane squirrel trap" on an Internet search and found several hits. Once it is caught, drive it FAR away and release it.

The most important thing you need to do is find where it is getting into the house and plug that hole. The best way is to get behind the hole and put up some fine chick wire or mesh. And then use the spray foam you get from the hardware store to fill in the hole from the front. The squirrels will eat through the foam without the mesh in place.

Some other suggestions I have heard...

- Put a radio in the attic playing loud. The squirls will think there is someone in the attic and move out. You then plug the hole once they are gone. I haven't tried this myself.

- If you live somewhere where it gets hot, most squirels will move out in peak heat of the summer. You might only need to wait until August and then plug up the hole once they are gone.

First lay out some bait, I Suggest using box mouse traps if you want then alive, or if dead Use the old Traps they work, but the bait is key i catch squirrels all of the time outside, with peanuts.

Here in Colorado the natural parks people will let you borrow a trap to catch them live and then release them . Sometimes they will come and do it for ya..

If you know how he's getting in, place birdseed 100 feed from the hole. While the little bandit's munching away, plug the hole.
