While I think it's healthy for 16-year-olds to explore their sexuality I think it's a VERY BAD idea for anyone that young to be getting sexually involved with others for many reasons, especially in the context of an affair. Cheating on a significant other, or having sex with someone who is cheating on a significant other is DEFINITELY not cool, regardless of your age. As for young people in particular, many of them who are sexually active don't take precautions and end up regretting it. It seems that teenagers have an invincibility complex and think that things like AIDS, pregnancy, STDs, etc., "happen to other people." In addition, girls who go all the way get labeled as sluts and guys only date them to get in their pants -- and all it takes is for a girl to do it ONCE and she gets labeled. Finally, as old-fashioned as it sounds, sex should be reserved for marriage, and that's something a 16-year-old will never understand unless he/she messes around before marriage and finds out later that sex doesn't equal love and being good in bed together doesn't make for a good marriage. Save it for later -- sex at that age causes a bunch of problems and doesn't solve any.

It is not good to have an affair at any age and the fact that you need to ask such a question indicates to me that you are not mature enough to handle the consequences of an affair. If you don't want to be with the person you are with then tell them so and leave.

Don't you have to be married to have an affair?

Unless by affair you just mean dating in which case its fine to date at 16.

As John Stossel would say "GIVE ME A BREAK". Are you kidding? 16, 15? you're still a kid (no offense), and if you got
pregnant, you'd be a kid having a kid.

At least you're smart enough to ask for advice.

Be good.

no its not. cos ur young and u lack the actual understanding. when u grow up u realise youve been too rash as a teen , but then its too late and its irreversible. make friends, and love will walk in when you least expect and most need it.
