Yes, the included meals are 1 counter service (entree and dessert or one complete combo meal, and non-alcoholic beverage), 1 table service (appetizer, entree and dessert or full buffet and non-alcoholic beverage) and 1 snack (stuff marked on the menu with a special symbol, usually an ice cream bar, a popcorn scoop, a piece of fruit, a small bag of chips, a bottle of soda, or similar kinds of things) per person per day.
The total number of meal "credits" are loaded onto your key card when you check in. When you want to use the "credits", tell your waiter (or the cashier at a counter service resturant) that you are using the meal plan and give them your key card. They will deduct the "credits" and will give the card back to you with a reciept that lists exactly what "credits" you have left.
Although the credits are given "per person", you are not required to use them that way, and you can use them any time during your stay that you want to. Also, you have the option to trade two table service meals for one of the Character meals.
The links below give a lot more info on the meal plan. (My family has found that if you plan pretty well it can save quite a bit of money... and if you don't plan it out you can end up spending even more.)

It is really simple to use. You get one counter service, one table service and one snack each night of your stay. You can choose to use them each day, or you can use two table service in one day, etc. It is however you like. It can save you a lot of money if you know how to use the dining plan. Since the plan has come out, I've had it on all of my trips to Disney, it is really nice.
To redeem it, you simply give the waiter or cashier your room key. All of your dining points are "stored" on there. They will swipe your card and it will remove the points from your total. You can also get a printout of how many you have left.
The best thing to do when you go is to ask your waiter what is all included. Some restaurants have things you can't order on the dining plan, etc. So if you ask they will tell you what you are allowed to order.
I hope this helps!

The dining plan was well worth it for us. We were at Disney in September and took advantage or the free plan. We were on the plan that included on counter service and one sit down. Most of our sit down meals were charter dining (Crystal Palace, Chef Mickey's, Cinderellas Royal Table (which was 2 table service credits) ... These restaurants are fairly pricey if doing them out of pocket. The meal plan made them very accessible and downright affordable considering most, were buffets. On the days where we had buffet lunch, brunch, or breakfast, the remaining counter service meal we still had for the day often went unused. Don't forget also, all the meals include the main, a drink, and a dessert. And the sit down meals often included an appetizer as well. We went to Mama Melrose's at MGM for lunch on our plan and we had more food than we knew what to do with. Disney dining plan works. Use it.

This is how it worked for me and my boyfriend... we got Disney's Premium Package and the dining plan was included. Our "Key to the World," the card you get when you check in at a Disney World Resort, is what we used to pay for our meals. Each time you go to a restaurant, before you even order, you have to let them know you're on the dining plan. On the "Key to the World" are "coupons." You're supposed to get one snack, breakfast, lunch, and dinner per person, per day. You can use them however you wish, though. My boyfriend and I didn't get up in time to have breakfast most of the days, so we had about 12 extra "coupons" at the end of our trip. It doesn't matter what restaurant you eat at. You can eat at any restaurant on the dining plan, but some of the nicer, sit-down restaurants, buffets, and character meals cost two "coupons" per person. I really love the Disney Dining Plan. It was very helpful, especially because my boyfriend and I are young and from New Hampshire, and tip and tax was all included in the plan, we didn't have to worry about anything. It's very well-worth it.
But I think there's different dining plans... there's the regular add-on dining plan, then there's the dining plan included in the Premium Package, and now, an even better dining plan included in the new Platinum Package.

Also the dining plan is a great value too if you plan to eat in the nicer restaurants. Lunch you get the entree, dessert and a drink. Dinner is the appetizer, entree, dessert and soft drink.
In Magic Kingdom I got the ribs and chicken in tomorrowland.
The entree cost $19 and my dessert (a brownie) cost $3. The soda was another $3. So lunch was $26.
When I went to the Japanese teppan for dinner, i ordered a full size sushi ($9), the shrimp and steak ($22), dessert ($4) and a coke ($3). That's 38 for dinner.
Together, Dinner and lunch cost $64.00 and the cost for the dining plan is what, $37 per adult?
I don't have to look at my wallet or penny pinch. I eat like a queen and truly ENJOY my trip to WDW.

i believe you get a card to swipe. yes, you get what you mentioned per day, but you can use them in any combo you want. you could get 2 counter service one day and 2 table the next, you could save all your snacks for one day, etc. check out allearsnet.com for some more info

I would love to explain this to you, but it is hard to do with a small amount of space and time. Please contact a travel agent who specializes in Disney vacations. I am one, and there are many others. They will know all the rules.
I can tell you this - it is a good deal. My clients love it.

I'm not exactly sure how it works but I have heard that it is really a good buy. You might want to check www.mousesavers.com for information about how much money it saves.

to use the plan you have to stay on property and the hotels you would stay at have refillable mugs for 11.99, you can use them as much as you like during your stay at the hotel. they are only good at the hotel you are staying at. just thought id throw that in for you.
